Memory Maker – Disney World

A picture is worth a thousand words, and these days, we take pictures of everything. Capturing moments has become a daily part of our lives, but some of the most cherished moments are those captured while on vacation. One of the hardest things about vacation photography is getting everyone in the pictures. Thankfully, the happiest place on Earth has solved this problem in their parks with the Memory Maker package.

We walked up to the counter confident in our decision to buy just the ONE photo; No key chains or picture frame, just the hilarious picture of us screaming like children. But, as most of them are, the cast member was determined to help us realize what was best for us. She asked if we thought we would buy any other pictures during our time at the parks. She explained there were Disney photographers everywhere and asked if we planned on dining with any characters or riding other rides. She went on to explain that each photograph would cost us $10. Then she introduced us to the best choice we made that week, the Memory Maker package. We paid $199 to get this package. She told us all we had to do to make it “worth it” was find 21 photographers to get our pictures taken. This seemed like a no brainer for me and the second we walked away, we took it as a challenge. It took us less than an hour to get 21 photos. There are photographers EVERYWHERE! They stand in various places around all of the parks and select resorts, and they are with all the characters during their meet and greets. They also include all the pictures from any rides that take your pictures. We ended getting over 500 pictures using the Memory Maker package over the course of four days. Our Magic Bands made viewing and downloading our photos super fast and easy, but thats a topic for another post.

wd022wdw2014243115411009_19We got a lot more out of this package than a family with children might have, just because we had the patience to wait in multiple lines for photos, several times a day. But even if you don’t end up with 500 pictures, it was worth it just to be able to leave my camera at home. The first day we were there it rained on and off for a few hours, and we were constantly rushing to make sure my camera was protected from being wet. It was also just annoying to have to carry it around all the time anyway. Not to mention, with the package we got to be in the pictures together without having to awkwardly stop a stranger to take our pictures. And probably the coolest part about this package is having easy access to Magic Shots. Magic Shots are something certain Disney photographers can do to add a touch of magic to your pictures. Every photographer will pose your pictures, (almost every one told Zac and I to kiss because we were wearing newly wed ears) but every now and then you’ll come across one who will tell you to put your hands out and act like you are holding something, or look down and act surprised. Those were always the best. When you log on to view those pictures, you’ll find a Disney friend has joined you and your family!

I would recommend Memory Maker to anyone who is going to be anywhere in Disney World for more than a day. While we did get over 100 pictures on our first day, we might not have stopped as often, if we didn’t have three more days to go. If you’re only there for one day I would still recommend bringing your own camera. But if you have more time, the Memory Maker package is definitely the way to go!
